Food

Food insecurity is a significant issue for 60% of our beneficiaries. Many of these individuals can only afford to eat one meal per day. When our beneficiaries do not get enough to eat, their health deteriorates, and they face challenges in their education.

Providing food for one beneficiary, which includes three meals per day, costs $25 USD per month.

A Reliable Bicycle

Walking a mile to and from school six days a week is no easy task. When you factor in the heat of the hot season or the downpours during monsoon season, the journey can become quite unbearable.

Having a reliable bicycle can significantly speed up the trip to school, making it not only easier to attend school but also much more enjoyable experience going to school.

Providing one reliable bicycle to a beneficiary so they can go to school, costs, $50 USD

Sanitary Pads

An estimated 30% of women in Cambodia miss school during their menstrual periods due to limited or no access to menstrual hygiene products. This issue, known as "period poverty," creates an unequal educational environment for girls and infringes on their basic human right to education. Women Are Gold is committed to ensuring that girls can stay in school, and we must not allow their education to halt when their periods begin.

A packet of menstrual pads costs USD $3, which is often unaffordable for families living below the national poverty line of USD $2.00 per day. As a result, many women and girls are forced to use rags for several days, leading to school absenteeism, increased drop-out rates, and potential health issues due to unsanitary conditions.

The cost for five packs of sanitary pads (25 pads in each pack) is USD $15.

A new pair of CROCS

Imagine wearing a pair of flip-flops that are not only too small but also worn out with holes in the heels.

Many of our beneficiaries enter our program with shoes like this. We often hear that they share these old flip-flops with their siblings.

Our neighbor, Vietnam, produces CROCS, and there is an abundance of these shoes in every size, color, and style available in Cambodia—and they are affordable. A new pair of shoes can make the difference between a girl attending school or staying at home, as shoes are mandatory for school.

CROCS are sturdy, reliable, good in all seasons and can last several years.

One pair of new CROCS costs $5 USD
